To meet the requirements from local society, you will be trained to become a compound talent possessing broad and sounded life science knowledge, especially basic theory and skills in ocean biology. After systematic trainings in scientific research and thinking methodology, you will be able to apply the theory to practice in an innovative way. Moreover, endowed with strong social conscientiousness and competiveness, you will be qualified to take on a job in organizations of teaching, research, inspection and quarantine, environment, and pharmaceutical.

Specialization One: Applied Biochemistry and Food Safety (ABFS)

Specialization Two: Ocean Biotechnology and Drug Development (OBDD)

l Course planning:

To graduate from Biotechnology major, you have to finish the following courses and earn required credits:

Non-major-required School Compulsory Courses (54 credits), including 12 credits in General Studies (3 credits from BIO2341 Introductory Life Sciences II, 2 credits from CHE3183 Introductory Chemistry I, 7 credits from any other general studies of the school), and English language Course 4.

Major-required 21 credits for Basic Sciences (including 3 credits from BIO2341 Introductory Life Sciences II, and 2 credits from CHE3183 Introductory Chemistry I),46 credits for Core Studies Courses, and 10 credits for Specialization Courses (ABFS or OBDD).

Major Electives (13 credits), and General Sciences Electives (6 credits).
