报告摘要:
The 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Hopfield and Hinton. Physicist Hopfield is considered a pioneer in computational neuroscience, while computer scientist Hinton pioneered deep learning in his early years using ideas from physics. Artificial intelligence represented by large language models (such as DeepSeek) is undoubtedly one of the most revolutionary technological frontiers today. This report will sort out the relevant history, especially focusing on whether AI can really understand the physical world from the perspective of physics, as well as the outlook for the future development of AI
报告人简介:
Prof. Huang received PhD degree in theoretical physics in 2011, from Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Science. He then visited the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as a visiting scholar, and became later a JSPS fellow in Tokyo Institute of
Technology (2012-2014). In 2014, he moved to RIKEN brain science institute as a research scientist. Since 2018, he lead the physics, machine and intelligence lab at school of physics, Sun Yat-sen University, focusing on physics basis of various kinds of neural computations. His book 《statistical mechanics of neural networks》was recently published by Springer in 2022.
