1. Quaternary geochronology (photoluminescence dating and cosmogenic nuclide dating), paleoanthropological geochronology

2. Coupling evolution of global climate change, sea level, delta, river systems, and surface processes (watershed and delta evolution)

3. Global Change and Carbon Cycle

4. Landforms and Quaternary Environment of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau and Arid Regions

5. Sedimentary Environment and Groundwater Arsenic Pollution Mechanism

The doctoral students under his guidance won two excellent doctoral theses of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, one Humboldt scholar from Germany, one Marie Curie scholar from the European Union, UK Research and Innovation Scholarship to study for a doctoral degree in Cambridge University, the full prize of Purdue University, one President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the "National Excellent Team", provincial excellent master's thesis, provincial excellent undergraduate thesis, etc. of the social practice report of college students' three trips to the countryside in summer.
