December 2017 National-level expert



Congkang Xu is a professor and doctoral supervisor, a nationally distinguished expert, and a foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from Nanjing University and is a second-level professor at the College of Science, Shantou University. He is also the director of the "Semiconductor Materials and Device Research Center" of the Guangdong University Integrated Circuit Platform. Professor Congkang Xu has conducted research and taught in multiple universities and institutions in South Korea and the United States.


Since joining Shantou University in 2018, he has engaged in various crosswise projects which gained fund for more than 7 million yuan. He also engaged in vertical projects funded by the provincial and municipal governments. His team has won the first prize (flexible transparent ultra-high barrier film) and the special prize (semiconductor chip hard-to-melt metal target materials) in the Guangdong College Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Finals for two consecutive sessions, as well as the Excellence Award in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area High-value Patent Layout Competition (flexible Micro LED mass transfer and color transformation), and the Gold Award in the Guangdong Province Mass Entrepreneurship Cup Science and Technology Returnees Pilot Competition.


His main research includes the development of optoelectronic semiconductor materials and devices, including magnetron sputtering hard-to-melt metal target materials and flexible electronic thin films and devices. Until now, he has published more than 100 SCI papers and conference papers in journals such as Adv. Mater., App. Phys. Lett., and Nanotechnology, with more than 4,000 citations. He holds over 60 authorized patents, including 40 invention patents, and his three high-tech products

have achieved a value of more than 50 million yuan. He has led, involved, and undertaken multiple international, provincial, and municipal scientific research projects, with research funds exceeding 30 million yuan.
