The success of College of Science in securing National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) grants for 2024 has set a new benchmark once again !
Recently, the NSFC announced the 2024 grant recipients, with the College of Science of Shantou University receiving a total of 15 grants, including 4 for Young Scientist Funds and 11 General Programmes. This achievement maintains the faculty's leading position in grant numbers across all faculties at the university.
Universities are pivotal in fundamental research, and the NSFC is a crucial avenue for supporting fundamental research in China. The success rate of grant applications is a significant indicator of a university's academic and research prowress. This year, the College of Science submitted 71 project proposals, with a success rate of 22.22% for Young Scientist Funds and 25.00% for General Programmes. These rates exceed the national averages of 15.54% and 11.66% by 6.68% and 13.34% respectively. Three lecturers from College of Science secured General Programmes.
