Students from College of Science won the first prize in the China Robot Competition 2015 namely RoboCup Open Tournament

24 September 2015--China Robot Competition 2015 namely RoboCup Open Tournament was held in Donguan University of Technology from August 7th to 8th.Led by Professor Gu Minqiang, team”Venus No.1”and team“Venus No.2”from Department of Mathematics,College of Science, took part in this competition.Both teams has 4 students respectively.They are She Xueer,Zhang Huanan,Zhou Qichao and Sun Jiajia in team ”Venus No.1”, Li Xiaochun,Ye Rongfang,Luo Yujie and Hu Xuxia in team“Venus No.2” After three-days fierce competition,team ”Venus No.1” came first in the Internet-based robot competition while team“Venus No.2”got the third prize for movement&projection competition.

The competition was hosted by the Robot Competition Work Committee of Chinese Association of Automation and Robo China Commission.Thanks to the perfect organization of Donguan University of Technology and Beijing Up-tech Har mony Co.,LTD. to make this event happen.It is also worth mentioning that, this competition got great support from the Professional Board for the Intelligent Automation of Chinese Association of Automation,experts from the national 863 program for advanced manufacturing and automation technology,and Robot Technique and Application.The China Robot Competition 2015 namely RoboCup Open Tournament is one of the leading robot competitions in China.15 sessions has been held successfully since 1999,this extraordinary event has provided a good platform for participants to show their technique on robots and learn from each other.Over 2000 teachers and students from 170 universities and institutes join in this competition，including 580 teams from Tsinghua University,Shanghai Jiao Tong University,Hong Kong Polytechnic University，Zhejiang University,Harbin Institute of Technology,Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics,Sun Yat-Sen University,Nanjing University and the PLA university of science and technology.

Department of Mathematics of our college is committing to reform in teaching applied mathematics as a way to combine applied mathematics with practical engineering.After robot laboratory was built in 2011,department of mathematics started robot classes and has organized plenty of extracurricular scientific and technological activities related to robots.With great efforts,department of mathematics has made tremendous achievements in robot competitions at home and aboard in recent years.During this competition,our students had a good communication with their counterparts from other top universities in China, boarded their horizons and gained more knowledge.
